August 13 is the regularly scheduled Stevensville Town Council Meeting. In order to try to inform citizens, here's a quick update of what's on the agenda.
In addition to the usual department updates Mayor Crews is asking council for preliminary approval to explore developing a bike path within Stevensville River Park, plus rerouting some existing foot paths for safety and to clear debris/obstructions on the sandbar area.
Key details from the agenda packet:
This is exploratory only — no actual construction, path changes, or other alterations would happen without a separate proposal coming back to council for a
vote.
A cadastral map of the park area and a hand-drawn "rough sketch for discussion purposes" are attached to the agenda, showing rough proposed trail routing through the wooded area along the Bitterroot River near the mouth of a creek.
New business includes:
Sign permit — Valley Drug is seeking approval for a sidewalk sign.
Resolution 596 — Formally accept a $2,000 donation from the Rapp Family Foundation to the Fire Department, earmarked for hiring a grant writer.
Resolution 597 — Adopt a new Mail Collection and Distribution Policy centralizing all town mail through the Clerk's Office at Town Hall, rather than individual department mailboxes.
If you're interested in any of these topics, the meetings take place at 6:30 pm at Town Hall and are also broadcast on the Town You Tube channel at: https://www.youtube.com/@townofstevensville9105
